Star and Staret jewelry was originally produced by the Star Novelty Company, Inc. of Chicago. It was marked: "STAR" in 1925-1940, then the company changed its name and mark to "STARET" in the 1940s. The company used different external manufactures and the trademark "STARET" was not registered. The company ceased operations in 1947. Staret jewelry characterized by exuberant design, abstract or floral subjects and exceptional use of enameling, pot metall and high quality rhinestones. Some of the Staret items are similar to Eisenberg, Trifari and Boucher design, they are not considered a copy, but have the same source of inspiration (Staret «Сolumbine» brooch is identical to Boucher « Сolumbine», Staret «Chrysanthemum» gold-plated brooch(with green and blue enamel, square crystals, aquamarines and rhinestones) is similar to Trifari brooch with the same design, but more compact and made of sterling, without enamel). Staret collectors love the big hand brooches, especially the Staret torch, the company's most recognized piece.
